The Imperfect Subjunctive

The imperfect subjunctive is formed by taking the 3rd person plural form the preterit tense of a verb, dropping the "ron" ending, and then adding the new imperfect subjunctive ending.

Make sure to use QUE before the pronoun, just like in any other subjunctive form

Here are the endings for all regular verbs.
singularplural
first personraramos*
second personrasrais
third personraran
*Special note about the 1st person plural form: An accent will be added to the final letter of the verb stem to which the "ramos" ending is added.

nosotros escribi
éramos, nosotros pagáramos, etc...

QUE yo hablara     that I may speak
QUE tú hablaras   that you may speak
QUE él/ella/usted hablara that he/she/it may speak
QUE nosotros habláramos   that we may speak
QUE vosotros hablarais (only in Spain, Argentina)
QUE ellos/ellas/ustedes habla
ran  that they may speak

There is a second set of conjugations for the imperfect subjunctive. Either set of endings can be used. Here is the other set of endings:
singularplural
first personsesemos*
second personsesseis
third personsesen
*Special note about the 1st person plural form: An accent will be added to the final letter of the verb stem to which the "semos" ending is added.

QUE yo hablase
QUE tú hablases
QUE él/ella/usted hablase
QUE nosotros hablásemos
QUE ellos/ellas/ustedes habla
sen

Here is a small conversion taking place in Spanish and using the above form

Juan visita a Maria, Maria no esta contenta con Juan:

Maria: Ayer Juan queria que yo comiera de su comida!

Susana: Y luego...

Maria: Para nada, yo fui a la sala

Susana: El otro dia, Juan queria que Lily tomara agua fria

Maria: Y?

Susana:  No se, Juan queria que todos tomaran agua fria
